Why do I paint?

Why do I paint? What is it that drives me to put paint on a surface and constantly strive to make an image? Sometimes you are working and you think, but what is the point. yes the work sells and of course this is good, but it is more than that. We paint because inside we have to, almost an affliction but paint we must.

Just completed four new bird paintings. To large and two small. I need to work how to share this blog, build an audience and begin to share  the processes that I am going through. Got up just after six this morning and began a new set of boat and Mewstone paintings, tired but could not sleep. Happy with the work made. Updated some work on the website.

Fallen in love with a new area of coast. St David's in Pembrokshire is beautiful and awe inspiring. So many paintings to make, spent last week drawing and taking photographs from which to work.
